Big Jack’s Trains is proud to announce that all of our restorations now feature reproduction period correct wire! Took a year to find a cost effective source, but we now are able to put the proper colors of waxed, cotton wrapped 22 AWG wire on all our motors.
Previously. we utilized single core 22 AWG with PVC cladding in the modern color scheme with green for the field, red for the contact plate, blue for lamps, white for smoke, and the standard yellow and black for brushes and e-unit power.
Now we will use only the period correct color schemes! We were even able to source this wire in brown for the early pre-war stuff! It has proven impossible to get the “shoestring” wire used on the early stuff, but fudging it a bit and using late prewar/postwar type wire is a fair compromise.
